A dramatic day in court proceedings for Bartholomew Granger who began yelling during a hearing
KFDM News - It was a dramatic courtroom outburst that caused a judge to put proceedings on hold in the capital murder trial of Bartholomew Granger.
A jury convicted Granger Tuesday in the shooting death of 79-year-old Mnnie Ray Sebolt.
Prosecutors say he shot Sebolt in a hail of bullets intended for his daughter and her mother who had both had testified against him in an aggravated sexual assault case last March.
Today, Granger told the judge he couldn't move forward because quote: "you people are lying on me."
Granger continued to yell, scream and berate the judge, his attorneys and the jury.
He kept referring back to his aggravated sexual assault case, maintaining his innocence.
His daughter testified in that case today. Referring to his daughter, he told the court "she got what she deserved."
"She's the one who should be dead, not that old lady," he continued.
Bailffs surrounded the defense table, as Granger's attorneys stood on either side of him.
Granger yelled, "give me death. I want it."
The sentencing hearing is scheduled to continue tomorrow morning.
KFDM reporter Megan Dillard will continue to follow the case.
