Investigators release name of Village Creek drowning victim

HARDIN COUNTY - The Hardin County Sheriff' Office is releasing the name of a man who drowned in Village Creek.

Justin Barnett, 30, of Silsbee, drowned Sunday.

Game wardens with Texas Parks and Wildlife say they received at call at around 3 Sunday afternoon reporting a possible drowning at the intersection of Highway 327 and Village Creek in Hardin County.

They say Barnett had been swimming with friends when he began yelling for help and went under. Dive teams pulled his body from the water minutes later.

It's the first drowning death of 2013 on Village Creek.
