Attorney Larry Watts tells KFDM he's filed Whistleblower Lawsuit against Lamar University

BEAUMONT - Houston attorney Larry Watts tells KFDM News he has filed a Whistleblower Lawsuit against Lamar University, LU President Dr. James Simmons and the Texas State University System on behalf of his client, Vicki Ward, claiming the defendants retaliated against her for reporting what she called questionable financial transactions she discovered while in her position as Associate Vice President for Finance.

Watts told KFDM News State District Judge Donald Floyd issued a temporary restraining order Thursday that preserves Ward's employment at LU. 

Floyd has set a hearing for May 20th.

The lawsuit seeks reinstatment to Ward's job, back pay, damages for mental anguish and other damages.

KFDM News forwarded a copy of the lawsuit to Lamar University for comment.
