A Southeast Texas town has to prove how it spent federal money for Hurricane Ike damages

KFDM News - An Southeast Texas city has come under fire recently, as it works to produce records showing how two-million dollars worth of federal recovery money was spent after Hurricane Ike.

Poor record keeping in LaMarque has city officials scrambling to account for the funds.

A 2009 audit revealed the city wrongly put Fema money for Ike recovery into the city's general fund, a practice that has continued.

A councilman says Fema might require the city to be returned if LaMarque can't produce records of how those funds were used.
