Houston: 5 utility workers suffer electrical burns
HOUSTON (AP) -- Emergency officials say five utility workers have suffered significant electrical burns in an accident in downtown Houston.
The Houston Fire Department says the CenterPoint Energy workers were hurt Thursday morning in an electrical vault incident at the Southwestern Bell building. Department officials say the workers have different levels of electrical burns and have been transported to hospitals.
CenterPoint spokeswoman Alicia Dixon had no immediate details on names of the victims or extent of their injuries in the electrical contact incident. Dixon also had no information on whether the accident led to power outages in the area.
Department officials say the incident happened in the basement of the building and there was minimal fire damage. The cause of the accident remains on under investigation.
Further details weren't immediately available.
