ORANGE COUNTY - A homeowner north of Vidor held burglary suspects at gunpoint and fired shots at a vehicle to prevent one of the suspects from leaving, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say on  June 18 at 10:40 p.m., Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a call on Lakeview Cutoff in Vidor reporting a burglary in progress. Once deputies got to the scene they met with the homeowner who told them he was getting ready for bed when he heard someone driving between his residence and his metal shop. The homeowner said he looked out the window and saw someone in a purple Chevrolet truck drive to the rear of his shop which is next to his home. The homeowner dialed 911and then retrieved a firearm and went outside and confronted the suspected burglars.

The homeowner confronted the suspects and held them at gunpoint until deputies could get there. The suspects were identified as Cecil Mitchell, 40, of Vidor, and Sabrina Pantely, 45, of Vidor. Investigators say when the homeowner confronted them, Mitchell got into the truck and attempted to leave. The homeowner said he shot out both passengers' side tires on the vehicle in an attempt to keep the suspect from leaving. The suspect drove the vehicle onto Lakeview Cutoff and left. The bullets caused two of the tires to deflate.

Sabrina Pantely remained at the scene until deputies arrived. Once deputies got there, the homeowner was able to check his metal building and determined that the lock on the south side door had been cut off of the building by someone using a pair of bolt cutters that were found lying on the ground next to the broken padlock. No property was missing from the building because the homeowner confronted the suspects before they were able to remove any property.

Sabrina Pantely was arrested for attempted burglary of a building and transported to the Orange County Jail. Bond was set at $2,500. Cecil Mitchell left the scene and was not located. Charges are currently pending against Mitchell.
