According to the National Hurricane Center, circulation formed in association with a tropical wave over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. The system also has organized deep convection associated with the center. That caused the Hurricane Center to designate the system a tropical depression.
The center is nearing the coast of Belize and it'll have very little time to intensify before landfall. Some intensification is expected prior to landfall if the system emerges into the Bay of Campeche.
The primary concern with the system is heavy rainfall which could cause significant flooding in portions of Central America and Eastern Mexico.
