Family unhurt after SUV overturns on I-10

JEFFERSON COUNTY - State troopers credit the use of seat belts and child safety seats with allowing a family to walk away unhurt from its SUV after a tire blew out and it overturned on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County.

Troopers tell KFDM News two women and three children were traveling east to Louisiana in their Suburban on I-10 near mile marker 837, close to Gator Country, when the rear left tire blew out and the driver lost control.

The SUV overturned and landed on its side in the grassy median. The adults and children were able to get out and no one was hurt.

Troopers tell KFDM News the adults were wearing seat belts and the children were also using seat belts or were in safety seats.

Troopers didn't have to stop traffic because the vehicle wasn't in the roadway.
