Sheriff's Office releases names of beach shooting victims, suspect

JEFFERSON COUNTY - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has released the names of a man and his girlfriend shot and killed at McFaddin Beach and the woman's ex-boyfriend accused of murdering them before taking his own life.

Lauren Michelle Brack, 31, of Groves, and Regino (Gino) Antonio Maybit Jr., 30, of Groves, were shot and killed Sunday at about 4:30 p.m. at McFaddin Beach. Several people called 911 to report the shooting.

Investigators say Brack's former boyfriend, Eric Omar Barragan, 32, of Bridge City, murdered the pair before shooting and killing himself.

According to investigators, the shooting appears to originate from the termination of a relationship between Lauren Brack and Eric Barragan. Deputies say it appears Maybit and Brack were in a relationship. The investigation into the shooting at McFaddin Beach on Sunday, June 30, 2013 is on-going with the interview of witnesses.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is requesting that anyone who was at the beach and saw the shooting contact the Detectives Division at 409-835-8411
