Port Arthur police say they plan to file charges in child abuse case
Port Arthur police tell KFDM News they plan to file charges next week in what doctors at Texas Children's Hospital are calling the worst case of child abuse they've seen.
One month old Faith Mason is in critical but stable condition.
Shari Pulliam with Child Protective Services says doctors expect the child to survive.
According to Pulliam doctors say the girl is likely to have permanent damage but they don't know for sure and they're unsure about the quality of life she can expect.
Faith is recovering from at least 19 broken bones including a broken neck, arms, legs, thigh bone, and ribs.
Investigators tell KFDM News Faith had been abused more than once.
A relative brought her to a Port Arthur hospital early Saturday morning.
She was transferred to Houston when doctors saw the extent of her injuries.
Major Clark says police are investigating several people to determine who will face charges and those charges would include injury to a child and possibly other charges.
