Names of two men arrested on forgery charges released
Police have released the names of the two men taken into custody after officers responded to the Community Bank Monday in the 6300 block of Phelan.
Bank clerks told 911 operators that two men were in the bank attempting to cash fraudulent checks and when officers arrived to question the men, one of them attempted to run from the bank, according Sgt. Rob Flores Jr.
After a brief struggle with officers, the man was able to break free and run from the bank, officers pursued him and after a brief foot chase they were able to take him into custody, Flores said.
The second man did not resist and officers took him into custody inside the bank, Flores said.
Officers identified the first man as 30-year-old Houston resident Clyde S. Porter and booked Porter into the county jail on one count of forgery, which has a $10,500 bond, one count of resisting arrest, which has a $250 bond, and one count of evading arrest, which has a $250 bond, Flores said.
The second man was identified as 42-year-old Houston resident Lawrence B. Zeno, who was booked into the county jail on one count of forgery, which has a $7,500 bond, Flores said.
