Former Newton County Sheriff Joe Walker arrested, pays fine for Class A Misdemeanor
Records at the Jasper County Sheriff's Department confirmed on Tuesday, that former Newton County Sheriff Joe Walker had been charged with making a false statement to obtain motor vehicle records.
Walker, 44, was booked into the Jasper County Jail on Tuesday afternoon and was later released on personal recognizance.
Walker's Attorney, Billy Morian Jr. released a statement on Wednesday which said, the deal involved paperwork involving a vehicle. The case was prosecuted by Attorney Brett Lygen of Montgomery County and was heard before Judge Derrick Flournoy of Angelina County.
Morian said Walker pleaded guilty as charged in plea deal where he was ordered to pay a $500 dollar fine and serve one year of deferred probation.
The crime was a class A Misdemeanor.
