Update: All lanes of I-10 now open following fatal collision

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A dispatcher with the Texas Department of Public Safety tells KFDM News all lanes of I-10 East reopened shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday following a fatal accident that forced troopers to close eastbound Interstate 10 near Smith Road beginning at about 12:30 a.m.

Troopers say an 18 wheeler and a 2007 Chevy Impala collided on I-10 about a half mile east of Smith Road, near the 8-44 mile marker.

The dispatcher tells KFDM News Regina Kay Cole, 41, of Beaumont, was in the Impala and died in the accident.

Two 20-year-old men in the Impala were hurt. One is in good condition and the other is in stable condition.

The driver of the tractor trailer wasn't hurt.

Troopers are diverting traffic to Highway 124.
