Synopsis.......

Another hot start for the coast and the lakes. With moisture in place, we could see a repeat of the isolated showers and t-storms as we saw yesterday. Highs today will again reach the lower 90's. By Friday and through the weekend, we will see the moisture out and hot temps on the rise. Look for mid and upper 90's by Sunday and Monday.

Elderly woman beaten at her home with a walking cane

HARDIN COUNTY - A 78-year old Hardin County woman who was found beaten in her home is recovering at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

On Sunday morning, deputies responded to a call on Rusty Eddings Road and found Ruby Cravey. Investigators say 23-year-old Jessica Scates of Silsbee attacked the Cravey, hitting her several times with a walking cane.

Investigators said Scates, the granddaughter of a former Hardin County constable, knocked on Cravey's door and told her she needed to use the phone for a ride and Cravey allowed Scates to spend the night. Investigators said deputies found Carvey Sunday morning beaten with her own cane and Scates was nowhere to be found.

The  Hardin county sheriff's department has issued an arrest warrant for  Scates, charging her with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Cravey had surgery Sunday for her injuries.
