Driver swims to safety following accident

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A driver had to swim to safety following an accident in Jefferson County this morning.

According to authorities with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office a driver was westbound on Highway 73 towing a trailer with a four wheeler when the vehicle hit a patch of ice.

The driver lost control and went off the road. The vehicle landed in the bayou off Highway 73 between Labelle Road and Big Hill Road.

The man had to swim to safety after his vehicle went underwater.

The driver was not injured.
