Nederland police investigating reported graffiti

Some think graffiti is a nickel and dime crime but Nederland police think it could add up to a felony.

Police are investigating damage done to several neighborhoods and they say the suspects are 12, 13 and 14 year old girls and all three are facing 14 counts of criminal mischief.

The homes vandalized are in a four by four city block area, 14 police reports were filed and  homeowners are gathering estimates on the damages.

Several of the homeowners KFDM News spoke with plan to press charges. If the damage is more than $1,500 it can qualify as a state jail felony and go on their permanent record.

Investigators say one of the suspect's parents turned in their daughter and her friends, the three, girls spent Sunday morning cleaning up the mess.
