Bonds total $2 million for murder suspect

BEAUMONT - A judge has set bonds totaling $2 million for a suspect taken into custody Thursday night on charges of murdering a man and helping to hide the body, which was found naked and wrapped in a sheet in the back of a car abandoned in south Jefferson County.

Cody Jamar Lewis, 27, of Beaumont, is in the Jefferson County Jail on charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence. His bonds on the charges are $1 million each.

Arthur Christopher Harmon, 21, and Yiannis Nikolaos Mihail, 31 are already behind bars in the Jefferson County Jail, each charged with murder.

A Crimestoppers tip led to Lewis' arrest at about 7 p.m. Thursday in Pennington, near Lufkin. Members of the Fugitive Warrant Division of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, along with officers from other law enforcement agencies, took Lewis into custody.

Investigators tell us they're pursuing the charge of harboring a fugitive against several family members and friends deputies say assisted Lewis in hiding from law enforcement during the past two weeks.

Officers discovered 53-year-old Kevin Moyer's naked body April 5 wrapped in a sheet in the back of his car on South China Road. Investigators say he died from traumatic injuries.
