Police believe woman accused of endangering a child no longer in SETX
Police now believe a Vidor woman whose probation has been revoked for a charge of endangering a child is no longer in Southeast Texas.
Melissa Ringhardt had been given a suspended sentence and four years probation, after the death of 5-year-old John Read last October.
She says she fell asleep, with a loaded pistol out on a coffee table, while babysitting the child.
The judge also hit Ringhardt with a $1,000 fine, and ordered Ringhardt to write a letter to the deceased boy on the anniversary of his death and to submit it to the court.
Over the weekend, deputies went to different locations in the Vidor area and were unable to locate her.
They believe she is longer in the area. Ringhardt has family in Dallas, Colorado and Pennsylvania.
