A family escaped safely without injuries after a tree fell on top of a house on Pipkin Street in Beaumont on Wednesday night.

A mother, father and their 18-year-old son Juan Vega were inside when the tree fell on the front side of their South End home.

"It's a scary feeling," Vega told KFDM's Angel San Juan. "To have our home, the place my family has worked for, destroyed, I can't explain it."

Vega says he and his parents were scattered around the house when the tree fall "came out of nowhere."

A fundraising website has been set up to help the Vega family, which did not have home insurance.
