TYLER, Texas (AP) - An East Texas man charged with killing his ex-wife and snatching their 4-year-old son has been arrested in Louisiana and the boy is safe.
Tyler police early Thursday announced the arrest of James Calvert in West Monroe, La., on a capital murder warrant. His son, Lucas, was found unharmed in a car seat after a police chase that led to the vehicle wrecking.
An Amber Alert was issued for the boy Wednesday afternoon after his mother, Jelena Sriraman, was found shot to death in Tyler.
Police say James Calvert fled a traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in West Monroe, about 190 miles east of Tyler. Officers recovered two guns from the car.
Details weren't immediately available on an attorney for James Calvert, who's held on $2 million bond.
