BEAUMONT - You can help Some Other Place serve the needy this Thanksgiving.
Members of Troop 601 under the leadership of Eagle Scout, Nicholas Lamb, distributed 850 recyclable grocery bags to homes in their neighborhoods for residents to fill and be picked up Saturday, November 17. This was the Eagle Scout Project of Scout Lamb last year and has been adopted as an annual troop project for Troop 601.
Last year a large amount of food items were collected and distributed at the Some Other Place Thanksgiving Store. Because of the success of the program and increased needs of local families this year, the program has been continued to help to address the food needs of members of our community.
The annual Some Other Place Thanksgiving Store will be held Tuesday, November 20 at the Some Other Place Community Center, 1240 McFaddin. Prescreened families will be invited to participate in this year’s store. Approximately 600 families have been determined eligible for this year’s program and are invited.
For those not receiving a bag at their home but who wish to donate, Some Other Place is accepting donations of non-perishable food items for distribution on Tuesday, November 20th.
Anyone who might be interested in donating can contact Some Other Place for more information at 409-832-7976
Some Other Place will also be serving a traditional Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, November 22 at the SOP Nutrition Center, 1155 McFaddin Street from 11:00 to 1:00. All who are in need of a Thanksgiving meal are welcome.
