Watch KFDM News for an update on the story.
Police say on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at about 8:38 p.m., a homeowner in the 1600 block of Trinidad reported hearing several gunshots fired. Moments later a twenty-nine-year-old Beaumont resident stumbled into her front door with a gunshot wound to the left side of his abdomen. The homeowner didn't know the victim.
Beaumont EMS transported the victim to St. Elizabeth ER where doctors performed surgery for his wounds. Medical staff listed him in stable condition following surgery.
Investigators on the scene determined that the shooting took place at a residence in the 1500 block of Fairway. Several people were present at the time of the shooting. They fled prior to officers arriving. Officers were able to locate several of those people, along with other witnesses. They all stated that there was an exchange of gunfire between several people in front of the residence.
Detectives interviewed witnesses and the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and collected several pieces of evidence. Several items inside the house where the shooting took place lead Detectives to believe that drugs were involved and are the possible motive for this shooting.
