BEAUMONT - Scott Lawrence - Investigators are searching for arsonists who set fire to a vacant home in Beaumont's Old Town that spread to two other homes and a car, leaving nine people without a place to live, according to the Beaumont Fire Department.

The fire was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday in a vacant home at 1170 Center Street in Beaumont.
When firefighters arrived, they found a vacant home and a nearby vehicle engulfed in flames. The fire also spread to two other homes. The fire left nine people homeless. The Red Cross was called to the scene to help.
Investigators ruled the initial fire in the vacant home a case of arson. Two black men were seen leaving the vacant home shortly before the fire was discovered.

Firefighters were on the scene until after 2:30 a.m. Friday.
