ORANGE COUNTY - A spokeswoman for the Little Cypress Mauriceville CISD tells KFDM News the district wants to reassure parents of their children's safety following what it calls false information that students or outsiders would bring guns to the LC-M High School campus.
Community Relations Coordinator Sherry Combs says law enforcement officers have investigated the reports and concluded they're false.
Officers are on campus to ensure the safety of students.
Combs tells us the officers are investigating Instagram and Facebook messages and other outlets to try to determine the source of the rumors.
She says if there were any threat to students, LC-M CISD would directly notify parents .
The following is an email sent by the assistant principal at LCM High School:
Parents:
This is Steve Lisbony, assistant principal at LCM High School. We became aware of some rumors involving gang activity and possibly individuals who are not current students coming to the high school campus.
We take all rumors/accusations and threats seriously and are investigating. We are working with the Sherriffs department and officers are on campus helping to follow up on the rumors. We have emergency procedures in place to address any situation that may arise. At this time we do not have credible information to substantiate these threats.
We are receiving a tremendous volume of calls from parents and wanted to let you know that the situation on campus is calm and under control, and classes are continuing as normal.
Thank you
LC-M reassures parents following what it calls false information about guns, gangs
