PORT ARTHUR - From United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County
Families struggling just to make ends meet shouldn't have to pay to get their tax refund and, in Jefferson County, they don't - thanks to the United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County. This tax season, United Way MSJC will make filing taxes less taxing by preparing taxes for free at the Port Arthur Public Library.
"Our free tax services help low-to moderate wage families keep and save more of their hard-earned money. We can help one in three Mid & South Jefferson County residents," said Karen Do, Director of Community Impact. For United Way. "Thanks to our trained and certified volunteer work force, we plan on assisting more than 600 families this year. For our families, the tax refund is a stepping stone from getting behind to getting ahead."
Last year,
535 Mid & South Jefferson County residents were assisted in their tax returns and over $300,000 dollars of tax refund was put back into the community. For more information call 211 or 409-729-4040. Or visit our website www.unitedwaymsjc.org <http://www.unitedwaymsjc.org>.
