Beaumont Police say it happened just before 7 this evening in the 4100 block of Maida in North Beaumont.
The woman says she was walking home from to the store to her apartment at North Ridge Manor.
She told police that's when a man approached her from behind, spoke to her, and as she turned, he her in the face.
She went in the apartment and her husband called police.
EMS took her to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth on trauma alert.
She described the shooter as a light-skinned black male, slim build, wearing a blue pants and a blue shirt.
