JEFFERSON COUNTY - First responders say one person is dead and one hurt in a collision Tuesday morning between a train and an 18 wheeler off Highway 90 in near China.
A medical helicopter transported the survivor to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.
A DPS trooper told KFDM News the driver of a truck carrying a trailer was entering a private driveway at about 8 a.m. between Yorkshire and ExxonMobil when it became stuck on the tracks. Two passengers got out and tried to free the truck while the driver remained inside. A train struck the truck.
One of the men outside the truck died. The other passenger was unhurt. The driver was taken by medical helicopter to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
Highway 90 remained open.
