Forecasters say Andrea will make wet slog in the Southeast, East

MIAMI (AP) -- Forecasters say Tropical Storm Andrea has made landfall with winds of about 65 mph but the storm isn't likely to reach hurricane force.

And while it won't have destructive winds, it does pose a threat from isolated flooding and storm surge before it loses steam over the next two days.

Its center came ashore in Florida's Big Bend area. Andrea has been hammering parts of the Sunshine state with rain, heavy winds, and tornadoes. It's now tracking toward the coast of Georgia and the Carolinas, where some areas could see torrential rain.

Tropical storm warnings are in effect for a large section of Florida's west coast all the way to Virginia, and the lower Chesapeake Bay.  Rains and winds from the storm are forecast to sweep northward along the Southeastern U.S. coast tonight and tomorrow.

Andrea, the Atlantic season's first named storm, is expected to lose steam by Saturday as it moves through the eastern United States.Forecasters say Andrea will make wet slog in the Southeast, East
