Buna ISD, Jasper S.O. investigating threatening messages
BUNA - The Buna school district and the Jasper County Sheriff's Office are investigating threatening messages written in restrooms at the high school and junior high, according to Dr. Robin Perez, the superintendent.
A similar threat was written last week at the high school, leading to beefed up security.
According to an email from Dr. Perez, high school administrators were notified late Monday of a threatening statement written in the restroom at the campus. A few minutes later the junior high administrators were notified of a threatening message written in a restroom at their campus. A thorough investigation is currently being conducted by administrators and Police Chief Mark McKinley. Jasper County law enforcement has been notified. School parents and staff were promptly notified.
Our campuses will be thoroughly examined prior to the beginning of school, and extra law enforcement will be on each campus. Student and staff safety is of the utmost importance in Buna ISD.
