BPD prepares to honor fallen officers

BEAUMONT - by Beaumont Police Department

The Beaumont Police Department is hosting the 2013 Southeast Texas Police Memorial Ceremony on Wednesday, May 15, 2013.  This annual ceremony takes place on the front steps of our police station, 255 College, and begins promptly at 9:00 am.

As we host this ceremony, we join law enforcement agencies across our nation in observance of National Police Week, which is May 12 – 18, 2013.  During our local ceremony, we will celebrate the lives and honor the sacrifices of our fallen brothers and sister in blue.  Since 1881, seventeen Beaumont Police Officers have given their lives in service to our community.

This year, we are pleased to have Mr. James Ware, of KBTV-Fox 4, as our Master of Ceremonies, and excited to have The Honorable Larry Gist, Judge of the Jefferson County Drug Court, as our Guest Speaker.  Musical presentations will be provided by the Lamar University Cardinal Singers. Several family members of our fallen officers will also attend to place roses into the Memorial Wreath in remembrance of their loved ones.

We would like to thank the 100 Club of Southeast Texas for their generous underwriting of our Memorial Program and Mr. Ed Keller for providing refreshments.
