Woman found dead on kitchen floor, neck cut

KFDM News - Nederland police are searching for the person who cut the neck of a 67 year old woman and left her to die on her kitchen floor.

It happened in the 1500 block of 27th Street.

Police Chief Darrell Bush says a neighbor found Patricia Dale Hebert inside her home with her neck cut at about 10:40 Sunday morning.

Neighbors say they saw police at the home when they got home form church, leaving them with questions.

"I live behind here and I noticed there were a lot of emergency vehicles," Jeff Darby, a longtime Nederland resident says.

Police believe that someone that knew Hebert killed her. Police Chief Darrell Bush says they aren't releasing all the information, but they don't think it was a random killing.

Neighbors call the woman Pat. They say she mostly kept to herself.

"She talked a little bit with my husband here and there, but I never really visited with her, just when we'd get the mail or something," Lisa Lawler says. Lawler lives right across from Hebert's home.

Neighbors say they are shocked it happened, but not surprised. They say they'd seen police cars at the home in the past.

"Probably somebody that she knew. I'm not going to worry about it. Everybody else might worry about it, but I'm not," Lawler says.

This is the second homicide of the year, according to Chief Bush. In 2012 there was one homicide.

Chief Bush says they have no suspects at this time.
