Police investigating man's death as homicide

BEAUMONT - Beaumont Police have released the name of a man investigators say might be the victim of a homicide.

Someone called police at about 9:15 a.m. Sunday to report the discovery of a body behind a mobile home park in the 6700 block of College. Officers found the body of Eleazar Lopez, 42, of Beaumont, in a ditch that runs along the 6600 block of Westwood Drive. Police say injuries on Lopez's body caused detectives to determine he might have been the victim of homicide.

Detectives are still in the process of identifying and interviewing potential witnesses.

Police are asking that any person who may have information about the homicide call Crime Stoppers as 833-TIPS. You will not have to give your name and if your information leads to the identity and arrest of the person responsible for the homicide, you will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
