Port Arthur defendant gets 30 years for shooting girlfriend

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A judge has sentenced a man to 30 years in prison for shooting his girlfriend.,

Judge John Stevens sentenced Ervis Chapman Jr. after the defendant pled guilty to Aggravated Assault in the New Year's Day 2013 shooting. The victim was struck twice in the head.

Judge Stevens says Chapman must serve at least 15 years before he becomes eligible for parole.
