TxDot approves $27 million for Beaumont ramp relocations
BEAUMONT - From Texas Department of Transportation
In an ongoing effort to improve safety and relieve congestion, the Texas Transportation Commission, at their July 25 meeting, approved nearly $27.4 million for a project that will help relieve traffic woes along US 69 in Beaumont.
"Were very pleased to be at this point with the project. Like any major project it will take some time to complete, but in the end, we believe it will help alleviate some of the problems we see with traffic in this particular area," Tucker Ferguson, district engineer for the Beaumont district of TxDOT, said.
The project will stretch approximately 3.5 miles from the IH-10/US 69 interchange to Dowlen Road and will consist of reconfiguring some existing exit ramps into entrance ramps and vice versa. Other elements of the project include widening the Dowlen, Lucas and Delaware overpasses as well as adding auxiliary lanes. Construction is expected to begin in October and be completed by late 2015.
