PORT ARTHUR - Port Arthur Police are searching for an attacker who struck a clerk several times with a shotgun after the employee tried to take away his weapon during an attempted robbery.

Police say a man wearing a ski mask and carrying a long barrel shotgun tried to rob the Family Food Mart, 2735 7th Street, at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday.

The clerk went behind the counter and tried to get money. The clerk attempted to disarm the attacker and the man struck him several times with the shotgun before leaving without any money, according to investigators.

ID technicians checked for prints while police searched for the attacker.
