KFDM first to report BISD Special Assistant Jessie Haynes on paid administrative leave
BEAUMONT - KFDM News has learned the Beaumont school superintendent placed his Special Assistant to the Superintendent for Communications on paid administrative leave effective Monday until the district finishes investigating an incident that took place outside the board room during last week's meeting.

KFDM News filed a Freedom of Information request with BISD for video of the incident.
Late Monday afternoon KFDM News obtained a copy of the video from the district. It was taken by a surveillance camera across from the boardroom.
The school district attorney was conducting interviews following the meeting last Thursday. You can see reporters and photographers walking into the boardroom. At one point reporter Jerry Jordan with SET Investigates walks in but was told to leave. Jordan walks out and you can see him standing with attorney Michael Getz and others.
It's our understanding trustee Mike Neil decided to go inside the boardroom to find out why Jordan was told to leave.
Neil walks toward the door and it appears Jessie Haynes, the Special Assistant to the Superintendent for Communications, tries to prevent him from going inside. There was some type of a struggle as Neil proceeded to open the door. Once Neil gets the door opened, Jordan is able to go inside the room.
Later, the surveillance video shows Neil returning and walking toward the opened door. As he walks pass Haynes, she makes contact with him. As KFDM News mentioned Monday there are new developments stemming from the incident.
The superintendent, Dr. Timothy Chargois, sent letters to board members explaining the new developments.
It states: "In the best interests of the district, effective August 5th, 2013, I've placed the Special Assistant to the Superintendent for Communications on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the events that took place at the board of trustees special meeting."
It continues: "As you are aware of the situation that ensued between Ms. Haynes and a BISD board of trustees' member, I am seeking an outside, independent investigative firm to conduct a thorough investigation."
KFDM News has left messages with Jessie Haynes at her office and with school district attorney Melody Chappell.
Attorney David Vann Decordova told KFDM News he represents board member Mike Neil and Jerry Jordan.
