Jasper women and children's shelter in danger of closing

The fate of a women and children's shelter in Jasper is in danger of closing.

Community leaders are expressing concern after funding for the facility was suddenly pulled.

A spokesperson says the shelter is desperately seeking funds to keep the doors open.

The facility  is appealing for donations from individuals, churches, and companies to donate.

Authorities say this will leave approximately fifteen abused women and children without a place to live.

For more information, contact Laura Moore at the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, 409-384-5417, or Pineywoods Safehouse Director Wanda Whitcomb at 409-384-1225.
