Beaumont Police arrest suspect in woman's motel murder
BEAUMONT - Beaumont Police have arrested a suspect charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a woman at a motel.
Police arrested Cameron Charles Frank, 23, at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in an upstairs garage apartment on Spruce Street.
A judge issued arrest warrants charging Frank with capital murder and aggravated robbery in the August 20 shooting death of Kendra Crump, 27, of Monroe, Louisiana at the Knights Inn Motel off I-10 near Walden Road in Beaumont.
A man who was with Crump was struck with a gun and injured during the attack.
Police are searching for a second man they say was involved in the shooting and robbery.
BEAUMONT (From BPD) - Today at about 9:30 am, our 911 Dispatch Center received an anonymous call on the Emergency Line. The caller said that Cameron Charles Frank, the man wanted in the murder of Kendra Crump at the Knights Inn Motel, was hiding inside a garage apartment in the 800 block of Spruce. Patrol Officers responded and set up a perimeter on the duplex apartment and removed tenants from the adjacent apartment and houses. As officers were attempting to determine if anyone was inside the apartment, a truck drove up and the man driving the truck confirmed that Cameron Frank was inside the apartment.
Due to the high-risk nature of the warrant service, Patrol Officers notified SWAT to respond. As SWAT was responding, Frank made contact with our officers and we took him into custody without further incident.
Officers transported Frank to our station where he is currently speaking with our Detectives. We are still in the process of confirming the identity of a second suspect involved in the Knights Inn murder. Detectives have confirmed that a person of interest was taken into custody in Houston on an unrelated charge. They will be interviewing that man to confirm his possible involvement in the Knights Inn Murder.
