(1:15 p.m. update) SWAT team arrests suspect accused of holding gun, telling motel manager to leave room

(1:15 p.m. update) BEAUMONT - The Beaumont Police Department SWAT team has arrested a suspect accused of holding a gun and telling a motel manager to leave the room when the manager knocked at his door Monday morning.

The SWAT team took the man into custody at about 1:15 p.m.

The manager told KFDM News he knocked on the door, with a carpet cleaning worker several feet behind the manager, to tell the man, who'd rented the room for months, they wanted to clean the carpet in his room. That's when they say the man told them to leave. They say he was holding a gun in his hand, but didn't point it at them. Police say the gun was a 22 revolver.

Police say the man had a warrant for his arrest in Hardin County on a charge of deadly conduct. He's also charged with reckless conduct for today's actions.


BEAUMONT - The Beaumont Police Department SWAT team is responding to a motel where a man claims another man pointed a gun at him when he opened the door to his room Monday morning, then walked away.

No one has been hurt. Police are sending SWAT officers and an armored personnel carrier to the Budget Inn in the 5300 block of College in Beaumont.

Witnesses say the suspect pointed the gun at the other man and then walked back to his room at the motel.
