President Obama issues executive order related to West explosion

On Thursday, President Obama issued an executive order, which is in response to the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas.

In the executive order President Obama signed Thursday morning, he calls for federal agencies to work with each other and with state and local governments to study ways to keep what happened in West from happening again.

By September 15th, the President wants the EPA, Depts of Labor and Homeland Security to develop a pilot program for best practices on chemical facility safety.

By November 1st, Mr. Obama wants the agencies to develop a list of potential proposals for the safe storage, handling, and sale of ammonium nitrate.
