Port Arthur police investigating aggravated robbery
A 36-year-old Port Arthur man showed up at the Southeast Texas Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the back left shoulder at about 1 a.m. Friday, according to the Port Arthur Police Department.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the man and his girlfriend were at the park at 200 Amy in the Montrose Edition of Port Arthur and while at the park they were interacting with an unknown man, the release stated.
An altercation occurred, the cause of which is currently unclear, during which the unknown man used an unknown type of firearm to discharge rounds in the direction of the Port Arthur man, causing the injury, according to authorities.
Port Arthur Police stated that it is believed there may have been property taken, or an attempt, therefore the case is currently being investigated as an aggravated robbery.
Once at the hospital, the injury did not appear to be immediately life threatening, Port Arthur police stated.
