Judge sets $600,000 bond on man charged with murdering uncle

ORANGE - A judge has set a $600,000 bond for a man charged with stabbing and killing his uncle in Orange.

Christopher Ryan Philmon, 22, of Orange, is in the Orange County Correctional Facility.

Investigators say Philmon admitted to his girlfriend that he murdered his uncle, Roy Philmon, 50, early Monday morning on Bilbo Street in Orange.

Philmon surrendered to Harris County deputies at about 9 a.m. Monday.

Officers accuse him of kidnapping his girlfriend after the murder.

According to investigators, the nephew left in his uncle's car before giving up.

The suspect's mother in Orange believes the killing could have been prevented if her son had received additional mental health treatment.
