Hearing Friday for high school stabbing suspect

HOUSTON (AP) -- A Friday preliminary court hearing is scheduled in Houston for a 17-year-old student charged with murder in a knife attack at his suburban high school.

Luis Alonzo Alfaro of Spring is booked into a Harris County jail with bond set at $50,000.

Investigators say a fight inside Spring High School in Spring escalated into a series of stabbings Wednesday that left a 17-year-old student dead and three others wounded.

The stabbings happened during a fight between several students in a school corridor.

School district officials canceled classes at the high school for the rest of the week.



SPRING, Texas (AP) -- A 17-year-old male student has been charged with murder in a deadly knife fight at a Houston-area high school.

A Harris County Sheriff's Office statement says Luis Alonzo Alfaro was charged in the fight at Spring High School that killed a student Wednesday.

The stabbing happened during a fight between several students in a school corridor. The sheriff's statement says that during the fight, Alfaro pulled a knife and stabbed a 17-year-old student to death and wounded three other students. The three survivors were treated at a hospital and discharged.

The statement says Alfaro admitted the stabbing under questioning by sheriff's homicide detectives.

School district officials have canceled classes at the high school for the rest of the week.
