Orangefield schools locked down for an hour

ORANGE COUNTY - The Orangefield high school, middle school, and elementary school were on lock down for about an hour Monday while the Orange County Sheriff's Department dealt with an issue not far from the schools, Superintendent Steven Patterson said.

OCSO were pursuing someone and contacted the district to let them know the suspect could be in their general vicinity, Patterson said.

As a precautionary measure, the district put the schools under lock down until they received further information from the Sheriff's Department and the schools were on lock down for about an hour, Patterson said.

The information the sheriff received about a suspect was unfounded, Patterson said.
