Judge to decide in day or two fate of BISD November election
BEAUMONT - Judge Donald Floyd says within a day or two he'll decide the fate of a scheduled November 5 BISD board election.
The Beaumont school board voted Monday morning to ask Judge Floyd to cancel the election.

During a hearing following the board meeting, an attorney for BISD asked the judge to cancel the November 5 election or reschedule it if a cancellation would violate state law.
An appeals court last week said a November 5 election would violate state law because it wouldn't be a joint election with the city, county or state.
The appeals court also ruled BISD should use a map with five single-member districts and two at-large seats, but the board voted Monday morning not to hire a demographer to draw such a map.
The public approved a 5-2 map in a previous election.
