$2B water plan on the minds of Texas voters

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Voters are still trickling into polling places across Texas and deciding on a proposed $2 billion state water plan and local ballot measures.

Some races are also hanging in the balance Tuesday. Houston Mayor Annise Parker is asking for another term and voters in Austin are choosing a new Texas House representative in a special election.

Stelena Evans is an election judge in Houston. She says turnout is slow but steady at her polling location and hasn't seen voters encounter problems under the state's new photo ID law.

In Dallas, Harold Krom didn't mind voting to tap the state's Rainy Day Fund to spur new water projects across Texas. The 83-year-old retiree says it's important to make sure Texas has enough water to keep up with a rapidly growing population.
