Clock officially ticking on BISD board approval of election map

BEAUMONT - The clock is officially ticking on Beaumont school board members and their plans to draw an election map.

Judge Donald Floyd issued an order Friday calling for BISD trustee elections in May 2015 and he's ordering the board to adopt a map by February 20.

During Thursday night's board meeting trustees delayed approving a map, saying they needed to get more information.

The election map must include five single-member districts and two at-large seats.

Voters approved a 5-2 plan in May 2011.

The election had been scheduled for May of last year.
