Driver identified in fatal Orange County accident

Authorities have identified the driver in a fatal one-vehicle accident at about 5:30 a.m. Monday in Orange County, according to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The driver was positively identified Tuesday morning as 30-year-old Joshua Thurmond of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Davis said.

The driver of a 2008 Ford truck was traveling west on Interstate 10 near Highway 62 when the driver left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a light fixture, Trooper Stephanie Davis said. Upon impact, the truck caught fire.
