Beaumont city council discusses bioterrorism and a hotel and water park

Beaumont-By: Jennifer Gordy

In the event of a bioterrorist attack, public health officials in Beaumont want to be as prepared as possible.

Public Health Director, Sherry Ulmer, went before Beaumont City Council today to discuss the importance of having private medicine and vaccination sites, in addition to public sites.

In the event of an attack, Ulmer says, "It would be chaotic at best, but because we do leave these plans in place and have exercised these plans. We'd like to say there is some organization to  what the mass confusion would be".

Council members adjourned to closed session to discuss a proposal by Jefferson County Commissioners involving a hotel and water park adjacent to Ford Park.
