Mother opens up about son electrocuted on the job
SILSBEE - By Justin Hinton, KFDM News
One mother is speaking out after her son was electrocuted on the job Wednesday morning.
Gary Edward Wortman, Jr., 31, was one of three contract workers at Stream Line Well Testing off Highway 69 in Village Mills moving a metal scaffold from one location to another.
They worked for Pro Steel Buildings.
Deputies say the scaffold made contact with a live electrical wire electrocuting the three men.
Trevor James Riddick, 26, of Silsbee and Samuel Anderson, 20, and Wortman died at the scene.
"I was just told by a friend," said Lori Crysel, Wortman's mother. "He figured that it would be better for someone I knew to come tell us than hearing it from somebody else."
Wortman was her youngest of three children and was raising a 5-year-old daughter.
"That was the hardest thing. Telling her," said Crysel.
Crysel says she will rely on her faith to push forward, though she says what happened to her son hasn't quite hit her yet.
